Cockle Lovers, Don’t Miss This: Dani’s Beolgyo Cockles (단이네 벌교꼬막) in Ilsan
If you’re into Korean-style seafood — especially cockles (꼬막) — then here’s a local favorite you can’t miss.
Introducing Dani’s Beolgyo Cockles (단이네 벌교꼬막) — a popular restaurant in Ilsan’s Jungsan-dong, just a short drive from Paju.

③ Why It’s Worth the Hype
My husband is obsessed with cockles. Like, top-five-favorite-foods level obsessed.
So when we found out there was a famous cockle place in Ilsan, we knew we had to go.
Turns out my dad had already been coming here, and I didn’t even know!
We visited with the whole family — and yes, it’s always packed.
Expect to wait in line unless you go early, and note that they’re closed on Sundays.
④ What to Order (and When!)
I was so busy eating that I only managed to take two photos… because that’s how good it was.
Their signature dish is cockles topped with seasoned green onion (yangnyeom pa muchim) and flying fish roe (nalchi-al) — wrap it in seaweed for a perfect bite.
They also serve a cockle fried rice (꼬막볶음밥),
but you need to order it early or it may sell out.
Side dishes? So good.
The fishcake soup, tofu with kimchi, and other small plates are flavorful and comforting.
⑤ How to Get There
It’s located in Jungsan-dong (중산동), a quiet neighborhood in Ilsan.
It’s also super close to Paju, which makes it a great destination if you’re staying nearby.
Parking is easy, and if you’re unsure where to go, just look for the crowd —
locals line up for this spot, and once you try it, you’ll understand why.
