Today, I’m super excited to introduce Sigol Maru Jangjakgui in Seo-o-reung, famous for its amazing wood-fired rotisserie (Jangjakgui) dishes, especially their delicious grilled duck! This restaurant also offers incredible wood-fired pork belly and comforting Baeksook (chicken soup with rice), making it a paradise for BBQ enthusiasts. It’s been featured on several TV shows, so you know it’s got to be good. Finding such a hidden gem near Seo-o-reung, conveniently close to Eunpyeong-gu, was a delightful surprise-I instantly thought of our next family gathering!

Nestled on Seo-o-reung-ro, Sigol Maru Jangjakgui offers a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Easy to reach from Gusan Station and Yeonsinnae, it’s ideal for those in Eunpyeong-gu. Honestly, I’m surprised I hadn’t discovered it sooner, especially since my in-laws live nearby in Yeonsinnae-it’s perfect for a family outing!

As you walk in, you’ll immediately notice the celebrity autographs adorning the walls-a sure sign of local popularity! Even in the early evening, the place was buzzing with energy, and the parking lot was nearly full. There’s a waiting area, complete with a candy vending machine and soft-serve ice cream machine (weekends only, unfortunately!).
For group gatherings, spacious private rooms are available, and the delightful outdoor gazebos look perfect for a relaxing meal on a nice day. They even have a bonfire area to roast sweet potatoes after your meal, along with swings and a small playground-perfect for families with children!
⑤ Beer & Food Highlights
Let’s dive into the mouthwatering menu at Sigol Maru Jangjakgui. They serve a range of dishes including duck, pork belly, Tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), pork ribs, marinated pork neck, herb-marinated pork neck, and Baeksook. We opted for the Herb Garlic Duck (Heobeu Maneul Ori), their specialty and a standout item.
A fantastic bonus-every main dish order comes with complimentary rice, soybean paste stew (Doenjang Jjigae), banquet noodles (Janchi Guksu), and porridge. Talk about generous service! We also paired our meal with some Soju and beer.
Our side dishes arrived first, and they were fresh and flavorful, especially the greens (Chamnamul) and perfectly rinsed Kimchi, an excellent companion to the duck. A self-service bar is available if you need refills!
Then came the star of the show-the Herb Garlic Duck, roasted beautifully over a wood fire. It had a delightful smoky aroma, reminiscent of homemade smoked pork belly. Conveniently, the duck is pre-cooked and only needs quick warming at the table grill-perfect for hungry diners!
We also ordered Kimchi Mari Guksu (cold noodles in Kimchi broth), rice, and Doenjang Jjigae from their unlimited meal options. The refreshing noodles paired wonderfully with Soju, and the Doenjang Jjigae added a comforting touch to our meal.
Eating the duck wrapped in crisp, rinsed Kimchi was heavenly! Even our child loved it, nearly finishing a whole bowl of rice with duck. The lettuce wraps with duck were equally delicious. The portions were just perfect for three adults and one child.
Just when we thought we were done, the staff brought roasted sweet potatoes-a sweet and satisfying ending to our fantastic meal!
