Unbeatable Pork BBQ in Paju: Hanam Dwaeji-jip (하남돼지집) – Unjeong New Town Branch
Looking for juicy, perfectly grilled pork in Paju?
Hanam Dwaeji-jip (하남돼지집) in Unjeong New Town, Wadong-dong, is a popular spot that locals swear by — and after one visit, I totally understood why.
① Restaurant Name
Hanam Dwaeji-jip – Unjeong New Town Branch (하남돼지집 운정신도시점)
② Address
26-42, Garam-ro 51beon-gil, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do
경기도 파주시 가람로51번길 26-42
③ Why It’s Worth the Hype
This place is famous for a reason — it’s packed even on weekday evenings.
There’s a dedicated parking lot right next to the restaurant, so no need to stress about parking.
And yes, they serve only Korean domestic pork (한돈), which is carefully charcoal-grilled in a separate prep area before being brought to your table.
If you’re a pork belly fan (삼겹살), you’re in for a treat. But if you’ve never tried hangjeongsal (항정살, pork jowl)… buckle up. You’re about to fall in love.
④ Smart Ordering & Table Setup
We ordered:
2 servings of pork belly (삼겹살)
1 serving of hangjeongsal (항정살)
Everything was pre-grilled over charcoal, which takes around 10–15 minutes, so the staff recommends ordering early to avoid lag between bites.
Each table comes with:
A hidden compartment for your bags and coats
Menus clipped to the table (genius!)
High chairs for families
And yes — they grill the meat for you at your table. No stress, no smoke in your face, and no guessing when it’s done.
⑤ Side Dishes & Pairings
Before the main event, the table is filled with:
Seasoned scallions (부추무침)
Pickled garlic leaves (명이나물)
Grilled kimchi, onions, and garlic
Wasabi, ssamjang, and fresh lettuce wraps
We also ordered a bottle of Chung-ha (청하) — because what’s K-BBQ without a little soju-style pairing?
⑥ Hangjeongsal: The Star of the Show
The pork jowl came out as a whole cut — not sliced — which was a first for me.
Turns out, since they use fresh (not frozen) pork, they can serve it this way. The texture was amazing — tender, juicy, slightly smoky from the pre-grill, and rich with flavor.
Our server recommended pairing it with grilled kimchi or pickled garlic leaves and wasabi.
It was unreal. Even my husband, who usually skips hangjeongsal, couldn’t stop complimenting it.
⑦ Ggot Sal & Galmaegisal — More Meat, More Love
After devouring the pork belly and pork jowl, we ordered galmaegisal (갈매기살) — the skirt meat.
Our server grilled it lightly, saying it’s best medium-cooked for max tenderness — like steak.
Paired with just a pinch of salt, it was… dare I say… steak-like.
I honestly forgot it was pork for a second.
⑧ Final Touch: Cold Noodles (Mul-naengmyeon)
We wrapped up our feast with mul-naengmyeon (물냉면), classic cold noodles in icy broth — the perfect finish to a heavy BBQ meal.
5 servings of meat + noodles + drinks… yes, we went a little overboard.
My wallet cried, but my heart (and belly) sang.

⑪ Final Thoughts
Hanam Dwaeji-jip in Unjeong New Town is hands-down one of my new favorite BBQ spots in Paju.
Everything from the service to the meat quality to the vibe was just spot on.
And here’s my pro tip: Don’t leave without trying the hangjeongsal.
Trust me — your taste buds will thank you.
